Sony's first netMD bookshelf system. It was launched alongside the MZ-N1, LAM-Z1, and MDS-NT1 as the first generation of netMD devices.
Also supports copying to MD from the CD drive (at 2x speed). Like most netMD devices, playback can also be controlled over USB. Recording from the CD drive and optical port are digital, recordings from the Tuner or RCA in is analog.
Likely to be supported by the latest versions of Web MiniDisc and Platinum-MD, there have been no firsthand accounts to confirm this, however.
